How to Deal with Depression Alone

Thinking about what to do when you’re depressed and have no one to talk to have already sounded quite depressing. Ironically, there are thousands of people feel depressed but have no one to talk to. Although talking to people can be one of the most effective to fight depression, still there are several things we can do to deal with depression even when we are alone or just too busy working so have no time to talk to people. Taking a deep breath every morning would help your body absorb more oxygen that would activate the brain before starting activities. Meanwhile, smiling although you have no reason to smile would trigger your brain to be happier and positive. The recent research that was published in January 2016 in the World Journal of Gastroentology even explains that depression can be a sign of “gut feeling”. There is a complex relationship between nervous system and brain that works like a radar to predict bad things that might happen in the future. According to the journal, when we think positively and stay calm, it will be easier for us to identify the “gut feeling”.

Music can help

When you are just very busy and still have many things to do, music can help reducing the stress. You can just turn on your music player and play your favorite music lists. Either listening to the music through your headset or your loud speaker, you have to set the volume low. Low volume is more relaxing, especially if you are listening to the music while working. There are many researches proving that music is able to activate the brain and trigger it to feel happier, especially slow and classical music. You can also try to listen to the music every night before sleeping.

Simple and relaxing exercise

If you have some leisure time, just try to workout in a relaxing place. You can just go jogging in the park where you might meet people. Even you do not know them, it would still be nice to just greet them when you do not know what to do when you’re depressed and have no one to talk to. Jogging would also improve your blood circulation that would get you relaxed. Another great option is to go swimming. Water is one of the best stress therapy. While swimming, your body would enjoy the water and improve your blood circulation as well as breathing very well. The effect of jogging and exercise would be much better if you have identify the main reason why you get depressed. You have to try solve the problem that gets you stressed. When you get depressed of something you can handle, it would be a little harder. But, still you can be healed when you try to accept the problem and let it be.

The diet is not difficult, you just need to have at least two time fish dish in a week. Choose fish with high omega 3 fatty acids such as herring, sardines, anchovies, and mackerel. It would be better if you add a little coconut oil to season the fish. You can also have two time turkey dish in a week to fulfill your protein and tryptophan needs.

  1. Non-caffeine beverage

You should reduce your caffeine consumption or it would be better to stop drinking coffee. Caffeine would reduce the production of serotonin inside your body. You can replace the coffee with a glass of fresh apple juice to wake you up in the morning and supply high vitamin A and C to your body.

  1. A glass of warm milk before bed

Drinking a glass of warm milk before bed would recharge your energy as well as get you sleepy faster. You should note that added sugar, syrup, coffee, or any other flavors are not allowed to be added to the milk, unless it is dark chocolate. Warm milk contains high protein, vitamin D, calcium and phosphor that would get you relax.
